Introduction to Microsoft Power Pivot (1 day)
Microsoft Power Pivot is a must-have tool for anyone who needs to analyse data from multiple sources and of multiple types. Power Pivot is a free add-in for Microsoft Excel* – it allows users to connect to and analyse data from a wide variety of sources, such as; Excel workbook / worksheet, Access database, SQL, SSAS and more. Power Pivot significantly extends the functionality of the standard Excel Pivot table. Once the data source(s) is connected to Power Pivot, users can build simple or more complex data models for analysis purposes. Because Power Pivot is built directly into the Excel platform, most users feel comfortable with it from day one as its interface closely aligns with the Excel look and feel.
During this 1 day training course you will learn:
- How to load data from Power Query directly into Power Pivot.
- How to load data directly into Power Pivot from other sources; Excel, CSV, Access and others.
- The difference between Excel and Power Pivot as a data analysis tool.
- The basic principles of data modelling.
- How to create basic ‘measures’ and ‘calculated columns'.
- How to use some of the most common DAX functions to extend the power of the Power Pivot data model.
